Plas Madoc Leisure Centre is proud to announce the generous donation of an EasyRoller pool wheelchair, a significant step forward in improving accessibility for individuals with mobility challenges.

The EasyRoller, a specially designed wheelchair for poolside and aquatic use, will enable more inclusive access to swimming facilities for users who require mobility support. This donation reflects a shared commitment to promoting health, wellbeing, and equal opportunities for all members of the community.

Stella Mathews, Chair of the Board of Trustees thanked the volunteers and the Community Council saying, “We are incredibly grateful to Josie Valentine, who works with some of our disabled customers. She had the original idea to raise funds for the new pool chair. She was supported by a local group called Denise's Army, who run the Johnstown Carnival. Rhos Community Council donated £300 from their local grants funds. The EasyRoller will make a real difference to our users, allowing them to enjoy the benefits of swimming in a safe and dignified way. A huge thank you to everyone involved”

The donation underscores ongoing efforts to make leisure and fitness facilities more inclusive and shows the continuing support that remains within the community for the centre. Plas Madoc Leisure Centre continues to welcome visitors of all abilities and is committed to creating a supportive and accessible environment.

Splash Community Trust is pleased to announce that Plas Madoc Leisure Centre swimming pool has installed a new Ultraviolet Water Treatment System. The project has been funded by UK Government and distributed through Wrexham’s Shared Prosperity Fund.

The Ultraviolet Water Treatment System adds no chemicals to the water and kills 100% of the bacteria in the pool water when it passes through the system.

The benefits of having this system include:

·         improved hygiene and quality of our pool water

·         significantly reduce the amount of chemicals needed

·         improve customer comfort (less chance of sensitivity to chlorine, skin / eye irritation)

·         a net reduction in our expenditure

·         a reduction in our water waste

While all customers will benefit from the introduction of the Ultraviolet Treatment water System, those with sensitivity to pool chemicals or specific sensitivity to chlorine will experience the greater benefit.

Stella Matthews the Chair of the Board of Trustees said "Once again we have benefited from the Governments Shared Prosperity Fund and it has enabled us to install the best water treatment system available. I am pleased we were successful in obtaining  this grant, as we continually strive to improve all of the facilities at the centre."
